Projects
Creative arts partnerships
Drake Music Scotland has collaborated with a number of music and arts organisations including the RSNO, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Music at the Brewhouse, Lung Ha’s Theatre Company, Sistema Scotland (Big Noise) and Horsecross Arts. Projects have involved commissioning works by composers Stephen Deazley (Thrie Heids, British Composer Award 2007), Howard Moody and Matilda Brown which combine Drake Music Scotland technology with conventional instrumentation to push the boundaries of what is creatively possible.
Some current and recent collaborations
From February to June 2010, Drake Music Scotland has been working with Fèis Rois to create an opportunity for pupils with disabilities at St Clement’s School, Dingwall to engage in creative music-making. Fèis Rois commissioned composer and musician James Ross to write new music which was performed by a team including four professional musicians, Drake Associate Musician Matilda Brown, five Fèis Rois young musicians and pupils St Clement’s school playing a mix of traditional scottish instruments and inclusive music technology.
An independent assessment commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council recently awarded the project an ‘Excellent’ rating.
Following on from our hugely successful collaboration Moving Music (see video below) which earned composer Howard Moody a British Composer Award 2009 nomination, Drake Music Scotland is currently partnering the SCO in its annual composition competition iCompose to enable people to enter using Figurenotes notation.
