Digital Repertoire

In recent years Digital Music Technology has taken off in a huge way and composers are beginning to respond to this need. Since 2012 Drake Music Scotland have premiered several new works for both digital ensembles and ensembles combining traditional instruments with digital technology.

The Red Planet Suite – Lewis Forbes and Drake Music Scotland

Supported by PRS for Music Foundation, commissioning Lewis Forbes to write music for three ensembles of musicians with disabilities and the Edinburgh Schools Jazz Orchestra.

So Much Depends Upon… – Matilda Brown and Drake Music Scotland

In partnership with Angus Council, commissioning Matilda Brown to write a new piece which brought together the council’s mainstream school ensembles with musicians from the Support for Learning Bases for the first time.

Same River Twice – Malcolm Edmonstone, Drake Music Scotland and NYJOS

In partnership with National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, commissioning Malcolm Edmonstone to create a new piece for Drake Music Scotland’s Digital Ensemble and a group of musicians from NYOS’s Jazz Ensemble.

Technophonia – Oliver Searle and Drake Music Scotland

Supported by New Music 20×12, commissioning Oliver Searle to write a new piece for young musicians with and without disabilities to be premiered at the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.  Technophonia was nominated for a British Composer Award and a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
